Four Questions to Ask When Tackling B2B Social Media
Jay Baer and Guy Kawasaki – two really smart guys with very different opinions about how to tackle social media. Here’s the basic premise – Should you have a social media strategy or just dive in with sleeves rolled-up?
Here’s my two cents – based on what I’ve learned about B2B social media in my time at Corporate Ink. Before you dive in, you need to understand who you want to reach – and if they’re actually paying attention to the platforms. Some questions to think about:
- Do I want to reach influencers (analysts, reporters, etc.) or prospects?
- Which channels are they participating on? More >
Automated PR – Singularity in Marketing
As artificial intelligence is being used more and more in the service industries – particularly customer service, as chat bots have illustrated (client Next IT could tell you more about that) – is it only a matter of time before we have robots doing PR? What would a PR robot look like?
A while back, HubSpot wrote an algorithm for a press release grader – able to automatically review a press release and grade it. I imagine a program could be coded to do PR. Certain parameters would be established – keywords, type of news, product launch, momentum release, new appointment, timing – and the bot More >
How Boston’s Restaurants Are Reaching Their Influencers
Boston Globe Correspondent Kathleen Pierce recently wrote “Eat, tweet, blog,” an article chronicling a group of foodie bloggers’ (dubbed the ‘Boston Brunchers’) capturing the attention of Boston’s restaurants – and their PR firms. While the group of bloggers isn’t tied into the Food Network or Zagat, as Pierce’s article notes, they are tied into a target demographic for local Boston restaurants through social media: friends, colleagues and followers that look to them for recommendations.
Because of this, the Boston Brunchers group is targeted by restaurant PR firms and food-service providers More >
Four Things You Should Know About Google’s Upcoming ‘Semantic Search’
‘Smarter’ might not be the right term, but the search engine giant will update its algorithm over the next few months to make Google.com more ‘human’ (insert obligatory reference to Skynet here). Last week, Google announced its plans to embed ‘Semantic Search’ capabilities (through a new system called a ‘Knowledge Graph’) that will help the search engine understand the context of normal human language to provide better results. For those of you out there with an iPhone 4S, this should sound familiar. It’s what Apple did with its Siri assistant and it feels like it’s More >
Facebook Timeline Continued: Stepping Up Your Game
As mentioned in last week’s post on Facebook Timeline, there’s a host of changes outside the layout taking place on March 30. While the changes are designed to organically work together to some extent, companies will have to do most of the leg work when it comes to making sure pages look fresh and readable.
For B2B companies that have decided to use Facebook Timeline effectively and actively participate on a regular basis, there’s lots to know and just as much to do. Foremost, there are two new features that will mean significant changes to the way content lives on Brand pages – Milestones More >
